*This content is currently applicable to customers in the Bangor Hydro District only.Versant Power’s Bangor Hydro District has several rate classes for its commercial and industrial customers based upon multiple factors, including the characteristics of the customer's energy consumption, the voltage at which the customer is served, and the ownership of transformers and related facilities. Power Rate Terms Defined A representative from Commercial/Industrial Services can work with you to decide which rate schedule will benefit your business most. Some of Versant Power’s Bangor Hydro District rate classes are subject to seasonal rates, with the Peak Season being November through February and the Off-Peak Season being March through October. Some of Bangor Hydro's rate classes also include price differentiation within a 24-hour day (Time-Of-Use, or TOU rates). The common rate classes are summarized below: General Service (Rate Class B-1, Revenue Code 2000)Medium Power Rate--Secondary (Rate Class M-2, Revenue Code 3000)Medium Power Rate--Primary (Rate Class M-1, Revenue Code 3002)Primary Power Large Rate--Time-Of-Use (Rate Class D-4, Revenue Code 3006) General Service (Rate Class B-1, Revenue Code 2000)The B-1 class of service is available for all commercial purposes to customers with billing demands of less than 25 kilowatts (kW). The 25 kW limit must not be exceeded in any billing period within a calendar year. This General Service Class is a two-part rate schedule with monthly charges that include an Energy Charge and a Customer Charge. The Energy Charge is determined by kilowatt-hours (kWh) consumed within the billing period. Versant Power’s Bangor Hydro District owns and maintains all transformers and related facilities necessary to serve customers in this class. Medium Power Rate--Secondary (Rate Class M-2, Revenue Code 3000)The M-2 class of service is available for all commercial or industrial purposes in which the customer pays for service on the basis of 25 kW or more of demand. This is a three-part rate schedule with monthly charges that include a Customer Charge, a Demand Charge and an Energy Charge. The Customer Charge is a fixed charge for each billing period. The Demand Charge typically varies from billing period to billing period and is generally based upon the average load during the 15-minute period of maximum use in the current billing period. Like the B-1 class, the Energy Charge is determined by the kWh consumption within the billing period. Bangor Hydro owns and maintains all transformers and related facilities necessary to serve customers in this class. Medium Power Rate--Primary (Rate Class M-1, Revenue Code 3002) The M-1 class of service is available for all commercial or industrial purposes in which the customer pays for service on the basis of 25 kW or more of demand, takes service at primary voltage, and owns and maintains such transformers and other related facilities as may be required to transform the available primary voltage to the voltage required by the customer. The M-1 class is a three-part rate schedule much like the M-2 class. The charges differ slightly (approximately 5% less) from the M-2 class, based upon the cost of transformation, its maintenance and associated transformer losses. Primary Power Large Rate--Time-Of-Use (Rate Class D-4, Revenue Code 3006)The D-4 class of service is available for all commercial and industrial purposes. The customer pays for service on the basis of 500 kW or more of Peak Period demand, takes service at no less than primary voltage, and owns and maintains such transformers and other related facilities as may be required by the customer. As with the other commercial rates, there is a fixed monthly Customer Charge. The D-4 rate, however, differentiates both the Demand Charge and the Energy Charge over the time periods of the day (Peak, Shoulder, and Off-Peak Periods). The Peak Period is from 7 a.m. to noon and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Shoulder Period is from noon to 4 p.m. The Off-Peak Period is from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. On weekends and selected holidays there is no Peak Period, and the Shoulder Period is from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. with the Off-Peak Period from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Service delivered at or above 34.5 kilovolts (KV) will include a 3 percent discount on the state portion (distribution and stranded cost) but not on the transmission rate Demand Charge and Energy Charge.
