Pine Tree Zone Electrical Rate

To support economic development efforts in Maine, specifically those associated with the Maine Pine Tree Zone program, Versant Power has established a special rate for qualified businesses in Pine Tree economic development zones. The Pine Tree Zone Credit ('PTZC') tariff is available to those customers who demonstrate that they have been certified as qualified Pine Tree Development Zone businesses by Maine's Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD). The Pine Tree Zone Credit tariff was approved by the Maine Public Utilities Commission effective January 1, 2009. Please click here for the application form for the program.

The key points for both customers and economic development professionals are:

  • The business must be located in a Pine Tree Zone and certified by the DECD as Pine Tree Zone qualified.
  • The business must be new or, if existing, must increase electrical load by at least 10%.
  • The business must request the rate from Versant Power in writing accompanied by a copy of its Pine Tree Zone Certificate of Qualification from the DECD.
  • This Pine Tree Zone Credit gives qualified businesses served by Versant Power's Bangor Hydro District applicable discounts of (40%), (30%), (20%), and (10%), respectively in years 1 through 4.

Please call our Customer Contact Center at 1-855-363-7211 or (207) 973-2000 with any questions concerning Versant Power’s Pine Tree Zone electrical rate program in the Bangor Hydro District or to request this rate.
