Medium Customer Energy Supply Relief Credit

In July 2023, “Resolve, to Ensure that Eligible Customers Receive Payments from the Energy Rate Relief Fund” ( LD-1971)  was passed by the Maine Legislature and signed by the Governor.  The resolve updates Public Law 2021, Chapter 168, “Resolve, To Help Certain Business with Electric Costs.”

Collectively, these bills were designed to help Maine small businesses mitigate the impact of rising energy supply costs by providing a one-time account credit for eligible business according to their electricity usage as of February 2022.  Versant Power is pleased to help facilitate this program.

To be eligible for the credit, customers must meet all the following criteria:

  1. Medium class customer that received a Versant Power bill in February 2022 for consumption equal to or greater than 1,000 kWh (or based on an alternative method of eligibility, as determined by the Maine Department of Economic & Community Development);
  2. Standard Offer was the electricity supplier for February 2022;
  3. Eligible to receive Federal funding;
  4. Active Versant Power customer at the time of credit application.

A three-tiered kWh range credit will determine the amount of the credit applied:

  • Tier 1 is 1,000-49,999 kWh
  • Tier 2 is 50,000–100,000 kWh
  • Tier 3 is greater than 100kWh

To receive the credit, customers must return an attestation form mailed by Versant Power on September 1, 2023, to ensure you are able to receive Federal funding. Mailed forms must be postdated no later than Monday, September 18, 2023.  Emailed or faxed forms must be received by Versant Power no later than Friday, September 22, 2023.

Please ensure the entire form is visible, including the signature, in photo or scanned copies. Emailed forms can be sent to [email protected].
