Power Quality

Power quality determines the fitness of electrical power to consumer devices. Without the proper power, an electrical device may malfunction. Power quality issues can be detected by events such as flicker, harmonics, noise, outages, voltage sags, voltage swells, and voltage transients.

Power quality has become an important issue in recent years due to the increase in sensitive equipment used within the home. While service quality has increased over the years, the sensitivity of today's electrical and electronic equipment has also increased.

Even if your service voltage from Versant Power is within acceptable limits, power quality problems can result from electrical use within your home. For example, any electric load, such as an air conditioner (which starts and stops) can cause problems for sensitive electronics. Therefore, achieving acceptable power quality requires a combined effort between Versant Power and the customer.
