Utility work to cause temporary traffic delays in Somesville

Release Date:  11-09-2023

Background

Mount Desert- Beginning Tuesday, November 14, Versant Power will be working to upgrade electrical equipment in Somesville. The work zone spans from the corner of Main Street and Sound Drive to the corner of Main Street and Pretty Marsh Road.

Vehicles will still be able to pass, though there may be short delays from 7:00am-3:00pm Monday through Friday until approximately December 22.

“While we purposely waited until the off season to complete this work and lessen the impact on traffic, we know this is a highly traveled route on MDI year-round,” said Versant Project Manager Buddy Greenlaw. “Please prepare for delays and take an alternate route if possible while we work to improve your service.”

Crews will work to upgrade poles, wires, and protective devices and replace aging equipment. If you see our crews out working, please remember to slow down and provide plenty of space for them to work safely. For the latest Versant Power news, please visit versantpower.com.
