Versant Power is ready to respond to storm damage

Release Date:  09-15-2023

Bangor and Presque Isle, Maine — Versant Power is prepared to respond to outages from strong winds and heavy rains from Hurricane Lee expected to begin Saturday morning. Wind gusts up to 70mph are predicted along the coast and up to 50mph inland, with the strongest gusts expected Saturday afternoon.

Ready

“We’ve increased staffing and secured 100 line crews as well as additional tree crews to help with storm restoration,” said Janet Scully, storm manager for Versant Power.  “Crews are stationed throughout our entire service territory, and we have additional crews on standby on the coast.”

Versant Power asks customers to prepare for the possibility of difficult travel conditions and power outages. You can prepare by:

-        Ensuring you have a supply of fresh water and easy-to-make nonperishable food items.

-        Charging your cellphone and other electronic devices.

-        Preparing flashlights and a battery-operated radio in case you must shelter in place until it is safe to travel.

-        Customers with special medical needs are encouraged to create a plan to follow if power to their home is interrupted for a period of time.

If you must travel, be mindful of flooding or pooling of water on roadways, as well as downed trees, branches or power lines. Never touch a downed power line or a tree in contact with one, as it is not possible to tell if a line is energized simply by looking at it.

To report and outage, customers can fill out a Power Issue Report Form at versantpower.com, call our Customer Contact Center at 207-973-2000, or use their Online Services account.
