Release Date: 08-11-2020Bangor and Presque Isle, Maine — Versant Power will lower distribution rates for all customers for a four-month period beginning Sept. 1, 2020. More than $8 million in rate relief, which Versant Power is pleased to offer during this difficult time for customers, is a direct benefit of ENMAX’s acquisition of the company. In both the Bangor Hydro District and Maine Public District, a typical residential customer, using 500 kWh per month, will see a decrease of more than $8 per month on their electricity bill. Commercial customers will see their distribution rate decrease at least 17%, depending on rate class. Industrial customers will receive a share of funds in the form of a one-time payment. Versant Power also will allocate funds to interconnected consumer-owned utilities, including Eastern Maine Electric Cooperative and Van Buren Power & Light, for those utilities to distribute to their customers.
