Versant Power customers to receive rate relief

Release Date:  08-11-2020

Bangor and Presque Isle, Maine — Versant Power will lower distribution rates for all customers for a four-month period beginning Sept. 1, 2020.

More than $8 million in rate relief, which Versant Power is pleased to offer during this difficult time for customers, is a direct benefit of ENMAX’s acquisition of the company.

In both the Bangor Hydro District and Maine Public District, a typical residential customer, using 500 kWh per month, will see a decrease of more than $8 per month on their electricity bill. Commercial customers will see their distribution rate decrease at least 17%, depending on rate class. Industrial customers will receive a share of funds in the form of a one-time payment.

Versant Power also will allocate funds to interconnected consumer-owned utilities, including Eastern Maine Electric Cooperative and Van Buren Power & Light, for those utilities to distribute to their customers.

As always, any customer who has a question about their service is encouraged to call our Customer Contact Center at 1-855-363-7211 between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. You can also reach our Customer Contact Center at info@versantpower.com.

Versant Power remains committed to providing safe, reliable service to all customers in northern and eastern Maine. Customers are not responsible for any costs associated with changing the company’s name.
