Versant Power to submit plan for investment in electricity distribution system

Wednesday, January 6, 2021

Bangor and Presque Isle, Maine — As part of Versant Power’s commitment to continually improve the standard of service provided to customers, the company will submit its proposed electricity distribution investment plan to the Maine Public Utilities Commission this month.

To meet customers’ needs and deliver on service commitments, Versant Power must continue to improve its systems and invest in the people working to provide safer, more reliable service to northern and eastern Maine. We’ve heard from customers that reliable electrical service matters now more than ever, and we are working to provide the MPUC and customers with transparency around our specific plans for improvement.

All Versant Power customers will receive a letter with detailed information on how they can stay informed about state regulators’ evaluation of the company’s request. More information also is available at versantpower.com.

Versant Power’s distribution rates have remained unchanged since July 2018, with the exception of a discount offered from September through December 2020 as a direct benefit of ENMAX’s acquisition of our company. The distribution rate is one of five components that make up customers’ electric bills.

In recognition of the challenges faced by our customers and communities we serve during the COVID-19 pandemic, Versant Power is asking that rate changes be phased in over two years. If approved, a typical residential customer using 500 kWh per month would see an increase of approximately $4 per month beginning Oct. 1, 2021, and Oct. 1, 2022.

As always, customers with questions about their service are encouraged to visit versantpower.com, call our Customer Contact Center at 1-855-363-7211 or 207-973-2000, or email [email protected]. Follow us on Twitter (@versantpower), Instagram (versantpower) or LinkedIn.
